8th Grade Camp

Dear Parent/Guardian:

This is the time of year when schools come to a close and summer activities begin and 7^th grade students will be transitioning to 8^th grade. Although, this is a very exciting time for our students, the anticipation of their last year of middle school can be overwhelming.

In order to help our students make that transition more successful, Kammerer will be offering “8^th Grade Camp”. This is a one day program that will take place at Kammerer Middle School. It is designed to address the needs of students that will be entering 8^th grade and preparing to transition to high school. During the day, students will develop study skills, and organizational tools, learn about Career Cruising, countdown to high school, learn note taking skills, and practice socialization that is appropriate for the school environment. In addition to these transitional activities, students will also participate in a math and reading class.

We believe all incoming 8th grade students will benefit by participating in this program. Please review and return the enclosed participation form including the necessary parent and guardian information. A confirmation receipt will be sent to you via email once your participant form is received. Transportation from Shawnee High School will be provided. Please check the appropriate bus on the participation form if transportation will be needed.

Transportation provided @Shawnee High School-Bus leaves promptly @ 8:15 a.m. and Returns Approximately @ 12:45 p.m.

Participants will report to the gym.

We anticipate an engaging summer program that will lead to a successful school year. It is our hope that your child will be able to participate in this free one day program.
